2016 Scholarship Winner Announced
Immediate Release: December 2016
The Spa Industry Association of Canada and Spas2b Inc. are very pleased to announce the winner of the annual Spa Management Scholarship awarded to Jessica Flynn, Operations Manager, iwa Spa, Blue Mountain, Ontario.
“I am absolutely honoured to be the lucky recipient of the Spas2b/SIAC scholarship grant for 2016-2017! As Operations Manager for Canada’s Top New Spa, and Ontario’s Luxury Spa of the Year, I know that this course will not only strengthen my knowledge and expertise in spa management, but also further develop my ability to lead our world-class team of technicians and guest services staff. As a high school teacher in my previous life, I understand the value of life-long learning, and am thrilled to be enrolled in Leslie’s program. Thank you to the Spa Industry Association of Canada and to Spas2b for this incredible opportunity!”
The scholarship panel faced tough decisions to decide upon the recipient of the scholarship. They were extremely gratified by the high calibre of the numerous applications that were received. The following criteria determine the outcome: Business education and experience; background; reason for applying; short, mid and long-term goals; expected outcomes from the course and how the course will facilitate realizing those goals; and business referrals. Applicant need, growth potential, compatibility with the program, passion, commitment and desire to advance in the industry were also factors in the determination process.
The Spa Management Scholarship Program is a benefit available to all Spa Industry Association of Canada members. Members include spa professionals, spas and spa partner suppliers and spa partner schools. The course of study for this award is Course #1 – Spa Start Up, Management & Operations Course of Study, sponsored and provided by Spas2b Inc.
