Katharin von Gavel

Katharin von Gavel is a recognized educator in the Foot Care industry since 1982 and has been a featured platform speaker at industry meetings across North America. She has studied Dermatology and Paramedical Esthetics in Europe and received a degree in Chiropody. In addition, Ms. von Gavel is a Doctor of Acupuncture, a Certified Podologist, and a Pedorthist. Ms. von Gavel has owned and operated medi-spa clinics in Canada with a subspecialty in advanced foot care for 25 years. She also developed proprietary protocols with the use of lasers and licensed clinics in Canada, South America and Europe. As the Founder and Director of Education of The North American School of Podology, she leads the on-going product research and client training programs for the North American market. In 2002, her company became the North American importer for Allpresan foot care products produced in Germany.

Most recently, due to advances in technology, Ms. von Gavel has replaced Allpresan with the next generation of foot care mousse. She has taken on the lead role as CEO of KvG Group, the manufacturer of the first Pediceutical line of foot care products under the brand name of FootlogixTM. Her mission is to improve the professionalism of the foot care industry, hoping to create an independent identity for professional pedicurists. Her knowledge and expertise continue to enhance the development of this industry throughout North America.

Andrea Olivera

Andrea Olivera will be speaking on the Ayurvedic philosophy and how to incorporate these practices into the spa. As an Ayurvedic Practitioner, Andrea has studied extensively in India. Andrea is also well versed in twenty-first century mind-body healing processes and utilizes her training in Ayurveda, Shiatsu, Reiki, Kinesiology, Crystals, Aromatherapy, Vedic Philosophy, Shamanic journeys, and Rice Readings to serve each client's individual needs.

Some of her titles and qualifications include: Certified Aromatherapist, Ayurvedic Practitioner, Ayurvedic Neurotherapist, New Decision Therapist™ and Educator, Reiki Master, Living Foods Health Educator, and Professional Beauty Esthetician. Truly a gifted educator, Andrea has conducted technical demonstrations and motivating workshops on all aspects of Ayurvedic rejuvenation. She has been a consultant and educator with The Collega for Aveda--a global leader in the manufacturing of environmental lifestyle products--for over nine years, creating some of the most innovative esthetic beauty treatments available in the Aveda/Civello Spa Network.

Marla.s passion for dance and movement are a natural fit with Nia. She brings to her classes knowledge from diverse trainings in Dance, Fitness, Energy Medicine, Energy Psychology and Bodywork. Her goal is to encourage people to enjoy a lifestyle of health and well-being. Marla is a Holistic Practitioner and Blue Belt Nia Instructor who teaches regular Nia classes and workshops in Toronto.

Jonathan Gilbank

Jonathan will be co-presenting a portion of the Financial module with Leslie. Jonathan Gilbank is a graduate from the Wilfrid Laurier University School of Business & Economics. While receiving his Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a specialization in accounting, he worked as a freelance consultant in the Accounting Information Systems field. Grasping the opportunity, Jonathan and a business partner co-founded JR Consulting, a professional Accounting Information System Consulting Firm. Positions and experiences include Financial Analyst; Material Specialist and President and Lead Instructor for the Wilfred Laurier University School of Business & Economics IT department.

Jeannie Boniface

Jeannie Boniface will be presenting a workshop on infection control in the spa. Jeannie has worked in the dental pharmaceutical and infection control industry since 1991. Jeannie is a dynamic professional speaker, consultant and entertainer who throughout the past 20 years has spoken across Canada, the US and internationally. Jeannie has built a reputation for being passionate, informative and inspiring, with interests lying in the use of greener infection control disinfectants. Utilizing her extensive knowledge, she wrote the infection control protocols for Virox Technologies. She has trained dental, medical, spa and medi-spa personnel in Canada, the US, Mexico and Europe on protocols for proper cleaning, disinfecting and sterilization following government guidelines and recommendations. Jeannie is an independent consultant for many companies, including the North American School of Podology. She is also a member of The National Speakers Association, Canadian Association of Professional Speakers, Toastmasters International, OSAP, and is a registered teacher with the Canadian Reiki Association.
