Bus Shelter Advertising

A question submitted to Spas2b:

Have any of you ever used a Bus Shelter to advertise in? What kind of results can I expect? I know I would have to be careful with the bus route I chose, but what else should I consider?

 

Our Response:

Yes, the bus route would be most important to consider, as the travellers on this route must match your targeted demogaphic. But other considerations in the layout of the ad would be:

  • Impact – it must hit home spontaneously because of the speed of the traffic passing by (you should know the speed the cars are travelling at) so your message should be simple and to the point – it should be branded carefully so that it is instantly recognizable as YOU, in case they didn’t get to read the name.
  • Expansion – It should also have “expansion” capabilities – it has to be interesting to look at more than once, as some of those viewing it will see it every day, and they will want to be able to “go deeper” into their imaginations with the visual, rather than just one level of interest, which will become boring quite quickly.
  • Simplistic – Once again, it should convey the message quickly, so it has to be simple, as it is really only a “snapshot” of whats available once they enter your doors.

I know of one spa who was extremely successful with this method of advertising. Remember that you have to track your successes with marketing, to know if it worthwhile, and worth repeating.
